With the sale of our BE NORDIC series, we support marine conservation projects.
Plastic waste is a central issue, as about ten million tons of it end up in the world's oceans every year.
Since January 2025, we have been supporting In Mocean, an initiative by sailors for coastal communities fighting the global plastic waste crisis. The organization shows how plastic waste can be converted into useful and marketable products using simple recycling methods. Especially in regions without functioning waste infrastructure – such as regulated landfills, recycling plants, or incinerators – In Mocean enables the establishment of local recycling workshops. These support communities in finding solutions to the pollution of their beaches and habitats.
In Mocean's work is divided into two main areas:
1. Education and awareness-raising
Members of In Mocean's international recycling fleet conduct interactive workshops in schools, communities, and other interested institutions. These workshops raise awareness of recycling as a possible solution to the local plastic waste problem and inspire participants to take action.
2. Establishment of community recycling workspaces
In addition, In Mocean fleet members seek local partners who have the motivation and potential to run a financially self-sustaining recycling workspace. If a partner is promising, In Mocean supports the setup by funding recycling machines, training on the equipment, and providing marketing and sales training. The collaboration is designed to be long-term, so the workspaces are supported and promoted even after the founding phase.
Sustainable impact on site
In Mocean's goal is to establish plastic waste in affected areas as a valuable raw material by providing tools, machines, and the necessary knowledge to create new, marketable products from it. This creates an incentive to remove washed-up plastic waste from nature and at the same time prevents plastic waste from local households from entering the environment. In this way, new sources of income are created, the environment is relieved, and awareness of sustainable solutions grows in the community.
