TRIXIE helps make learning more colorful in 5 schools

"Learning through engagement" is an educational approach where students apply theoretical knowledge by implementing community service projects as part of their school curriculum. This combines academic learning with civic engagement to promote sustainable learning experiences and a sense of responsibility. We support this project with a donation of €1,000. This allows five schools in Schleswig-Holstein to be supported for a year.

Practice instead of gray theory

The special thing about “Learning through engagement” is that young people work together with community partners in their neighborhoods or communities to implement community service projects, actively involving them in topics they care about – whether in the social, ecological, political, or cultural fields.

As part of “Learning through engagement”, various projects are created and implemented by different grade levels. Examples include:

  • Care group for people with dementia: 8th-grade students study Alzheimer's disease in class and develop care groups for people with dementia.
  • Consumer education on healthy eating: In the consumer education class, 9th-grade students learn the basics of healthy eating and regularly organize a healthy breakfast for an elementary school class.
  • Smartphone license for seniors: 10th-grade students offer one-on-one support to seniors to help them use smartphones.
  • Hands-on experiments by students for students: In physics class, 11th-grade students develop simple experiments to explain complex natural phenomena to elementary school students.

We are proud to support this valuable initiative and thus contribute to the positive development of students and society in its diversity.
